Roger's book was a true revelation; a breath of fresh air in what was my dustbin existence in the halls of academia.

First of all, "Whack" showed me that business can be fun. After two years of junior college where every business book I read was a stultifying doorstop, here was a book where the mind-numbing ideas were clear, enlightening, actionable and--best of all--highlighted by cartoons!

More importantly, "Whack" gave me the confidence to firmly believe that there was a place in corporate America for someone like me, a long-haired jean-and-t-shirt guy, swimming upstream against the tidal wave of navy suits and ties.

By opening up my eyes, Roger eventually opened up my library to hundreds of other business books, everything from Tom Peters, Michael Korda and Seth Godin to the Heath Brothers, David Allen and Malcolm Gladwell. This is why, as a tribute to Roger, my debut business book mirrors his "Whack" with a "Pow!" shares the same flippant, perverse-logic attitude...and is illustrated with majestic hand-drawn illustrations! (Sorry, artist Tim Barnard would kill me if I called them "cartoons"!)
